Casual Friday

I don't know about you all, but I LOVE it when I get an Athleta catalogue in the mail. Athleta has some of the cutest and coolest sport apparel around, and I happily own a few of their pieces. The thing I always wonder is how on earth do they get the fit models into those crazy poses and how long do they have to hold them? Take an inside peek into an Athleta model shoot that took place at a beautiful Yoga retreat in Thailand.

A little Friday vacation in only 2 minutes!

What if we had all the social media gizmos and gadgets during Baby Jesus' time?  8 pound, 3 ounce Baby Jesus, in his golden fleece diaper. . .

This has nothing to do with fitness, per se, but laughing is good for your mental health.  Enjoy.

The Foster Family!

Such a great week!  My parents came to visit and we got to enjoy the beautiful fall weather here in the city.  If only they lived closer!  Sigh.

Here is to a beautiful weekend, a fun twitter meet up with Brooklyn Fit Chick and crew, and to finding your own box to fit in!

Before you run, watch for your life!

The NYC Marathon is this Sunday, and the health and bloggy community is all a buzz with this exciting annual event.  So how did this marathon become the big deal that it is?  Learn more with a really cool documentary that will be airing on PBS in New York tomorrow (November 6th) at 2:30 pm entitled "Run For Your Life".

They had me at the 70's porn wacka wacka music.

For those of you running this weekend, good luck and God bless!  May all your goo taste amazing and give you the strength that you need to power through.

For the rest of us, here is something a little more Casual Friday:

Casual Friday

Who doesn't think hard work doesn't pay off?  All these hours of reality based television watching have payed off:  Someone in "digital PR" has sent me some Casual Friday links for next week's Thintervention!  Subject:  Joe gets schooled by Frau Craig.  Thank you, 360i!

AND. . .Joe is a jerk.  Will he learn his lesson on this Monday's episode?  I'll be tuning in!

Happy first day of October!  Somehow I found a comic strip that not only promotes the benefits of exercise as it pertains to escaping a killer, but there is a Halloween appropriate chainsaw.  Score one for me, world! HA HA HA HA HA HA! (Did I mention it is STILL raining?)

Casual Friday

Happy Friday y'all!

This week is the end of my first week of switching into the organic eating groove. I have switched all my dairy to organic, stopped using my soy coffee creamer, bought organic chicken, organic cereal, and organic fruit.

Whew. It is a lot to think about! I am in the process of switching it all up, but some items I haven't gotten to yet, like my coffee and the Whole Foods salad bar that I frequent for lunch. I figured that conventionally grown veggies are better than delivery.

I am hoping that this experience (eating organic and eating at specific mealtimes) will show on the scale. . .but overall I am wondering if it will make a difference in my overall well being. Will my emotions change? Will I feel less toxic? Does that make any sense at all or am I a crazy person? I will keep checking in and will let you know!

Meanwhile, the bf's parents are coming to visit today and we are going to Newport, RI for a few days! I will try to take a lot of pics and also chronicle if I can stay on the straight and organic while on the road.

Have a sooper weekend! Stay classy, San Diego.

Casual Friday

My blog equivalent to dress denim and a polo shirt. . .

WHAT A BUSY WEEK! I had a whirlwind trip to see my family in Oklahoma this past weekend. I feel an important part of health is taking the time to see the people that you love and give your body the ability to take a break! New York and Oklahoma are worlds apart and I love that.

When I got back home I got to try out a new spa courtesy of Spa Sally and http://www.25tuesdays.com/ . I was invited to get a 60 minute massage- which is always nice after being on an airplane! The name of the place is Pearl Beauty Clinic and Spa and is located on West 8th street in the heart of everything in the West Village! It is cute and clean and tucked away right next to MacDougal street. The owner was very nice and I enjoyed the massage-- but they also offer a whole host of other services. Next Tuesday, Spa Sally is offering the massage for $25! Make sure to CHECK IT OUT!

Look at these babies!

These are my nephews Caden Cole (on top) and Weston Marshall (on bottom) who live in Oklahoma. Aren't they sweet? What a great part of the trip!
My parents also took me out to a RAW food restaurant (very innovative for OK!) called 105 Degrees. IT WAS SO GOOD! If you live in Oklahoma you must must must support them.

Kimchee dumplings!

Fresh sake bloody marys!
I have other pics I took of the food but I am not that kind of blog. Trust me- it was delish.
Have a great weekend! Have a bloody mary, a massage, and squeeze on some cute babies if you get the chance!
