What Real Women Look Like?

I just read this post on FitPerez.com about the website MyBodyGallery.com.  It is a collection of "real women" body photos.

What do you all think?  Is this site meant to encourage positive feedback?  Is it a reference guide for other women?  Why are all the faces blacked out?

What I took away from it was that at 5'4" and 160 pounds, everyone looks different.

Tell me what you all think about it.

Is Being Fat Keeping You from Getting a Job?

http://www.cartoonstock.com/
I'm always interested in the articles on the Yahoo homepage, particularly ones about what to do or not to do in job interviews.  As I read this article, number six popped out at me:

"6. Being overweight can work against you.
Even though overweight individuals can be fast on their feet and slim people can be lazy, an interviewer might assume an obese job candidate won’t be able to keep up at a “high-performance” company. Cohen gives the example of a manufacturing company that prided itself on efficiency and speed. Every prospective employee was taken on a walking tour of the large plant before being hired. If the prospect couldn’t keep up with the owner’s fast pace on the facility tour, he or she wouldn’t be hired. If you’re worried your size may be working against you, Cohen suggests emphasizing how adept and resourceful you are."

I wish that we lived in a world where your talent and skills were enough to get you hired.  I know I have lost out on auditions because I wasn't the "right size".  In fact, my most recent job search into personal training made me very body conscious-- what if I wasn't thin enough to be a trainer?

Just because someone is thin does not make them the right candidate for the job.

There are enough challenges in this world without having to worry if the skill set you have isn't enough to compensate for your outward appearance.  Although I am not enthusiastic about the "fat acceptance" movement (that fat is healthy, no matter what), I am hopeful that by eating more mindfully and exercising you can boost confidence and stamina in everything you do.  If you feel good inside, it shows on your outsides.  And then that plant manager can go suck it because you CAN keep up!

If the pants don't fit. . .there may be a good reason!

I HATE trying on clothes. Even when I am feeling at my healthiest and most fit the idea of putting something on and having it not fit is just a total bummer. It is no surprise to me that different clothing brands have different sizes (I can't wear a pair of Levis to save my life) but just how off is your waist size?

Esquire Magazine journalist Abram Sauer went around to several different stores, trying on dress slacks and measuring the waist with a tailor's measuring tape. Each pant was supposed to be a 36" waist. What he found was down right dangerous: Old Navy brand dress pants were 5 inches larger!!! That isn't just appealing to your vanity, it's infringing on your heart and even your brain.

Excess body fat around your abdomen is like wearing a toxic blanket around your internal organs. If you haven't measured your belly lately, really measured with a measuring tape, you are deluding yourself! Numbers are just numbers at the end of the day as far as clothes are concerned. They aren't numbers when it comes to the belly flab.

According to Marticia Heaner, M.A.,"A waist size of >40 inches (>102cm) for men, and a waist size of >35 inches (>88 cm) for women is considered high-risk. A high number may indicate that you have excess fat in your abdominal area. If your BMI is 25 or higher, this can increase your risk of certain diseases such as type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia (uncontrolled cholesterol), high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease."

This article written by Heaner for MSN health also offers valuable tips on how to accurately measure your middle.

Weigh in: Mannequins too skinny?

HuffingtonPost.com posted this story about mannequins at the clothing chain Club Monaco being too emaciated looking: Pronounced spines and collar bones were their chief complaints.

I looked at the photos: I think my collar bones look like that, and although I can't see my spine (nor have I ever been able to) I don't feel they are THAT thin looking. Heck, I'll take collar bone any day over those mannequins with the eraser nipples.

What do you think? Bad body image or is Club Monaco depicting their average clientele?

I'm Not a Girl!

No, I am. I just wanted to quote a Britney Spear's song in the title. I promise, 100% lady parts on this chick. I saw this post on HuffingtonPost.com this morning:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/13/britney-spears-reveals-un_n_535981.html

Britney wants you to know that she is really real. And I appreciate that. Not that every model needs to look like me (Lord knows they don't) but it's nice to know that although people are famous they are not PERFECT. They have real butts and thighs.

When you've seen the amount of crazy this girl has, it's nice to have a moment of clarity.

Day 1: intenSati Insanity Challenge

Sati Affirmation:
2010! If not now when?
It's my time
I am fired up
I am ready to go
I am the master of my fate
I am the captain of my soul
I aim to succeed
I have faith in me
I am passionate
I am powerful
I am confident wow
And I will act now
I want it, I want it, I really,
really want it.
I am playing full out without
any doubt
Are you ready to have it?
Are you willing to believe it?
Are you able to achieve it?
When? 2010!
- Patricia Moreno

Yesterday, I began my 30 day intenSati journey and I know that I have forever changed my life.
The class met at the Equinox on 19th street, and as I checked in at the front desk, I was befriended by two other women who had also been picked for the Warrior Challenge. We checked our stuff in the locker rooms, and as I was walking up the stairs I saw Patricia Moreno, MY HERO, for reals.
A.) She is totally pretty.
B.) All I could do was smile really big at her. Like a goof.

We checked in with smiling women in intenSati shirts, paid the $18 for the intenSati DVD to be sent to a friend, and gave them our friend's address. I chose my mom in Oklahoma because I know she could use the gift of intention and mindfulness (the definition of intenSati). I wrote a personal note on the back of the DVD, and then placed it in a box filled with other well wished DVDs. What a cool idea! I wish that my intenSati DVD had come delivered in the mail with a sweet message of hope attached. The exact meaning of "paying it forward".

And that was the last easy thing about the class. Um, intenSati is HARD. The affirmation at the top of this blog has precise, choreographed moves to go with each line. Jumps, lunges, punches, jumping jacks for an hour while you are shouting, "IF NOT NOW WHEN? 2010!" It was thrilling and exhilarating and empowering.

Here are the details of the challenge:

1.) Break Through! Commit to taking 3 classes per week at Equinox with our intenSati certified leaders.
2.) Attend Kickoff Class with all your fellow warriors! Be there!
3.) What you give is what you get! Spread the power of intenSati. Introduce it to a friend! Challengers must purchase 1 intenSati DVD for a friend. Cost $18. (Charges to be collected at Kickoff class.)
4.) Get your friends intenSatisfied! We want your friends to try intenSati! One day guest passes to Equinox will be distributed at the Kickoff Event, so your friends will get to try it!
5.) Drink Up! Water is crucial to your health! Every system in your body depends on water. Dehydration certainly affects athletic performance but did you know that it can dull critical thinking abilities? Stay hydrated! Commit to drinking 8 classes of water each day during the challenge.
6.) We know how tough it is to stay committed! Check in with us! Email us daily. Let us know about the classes you attended and water consumed. Tell us how intenSati is impacting your life.
7.) Attend the Finale Class to once again celebrate the Warrior in YOU! Rock it out!

Sounds like some other 30 day challenges I have been apart of: Accountability is very important. And having a group of people doing it with you makes the challenge seem less challenging. And you can't just rely on emails- every time you take an intenSati class the instructor gives you a black jelly bracelet to prove you were there.

So, I woke up this morning with VERY sore muscles- It works!- and then realized that today was the beginning of my Insanity 60 day challenge. I was going to try to postpone it; I have family in town right now, I am sore, I was sick two weeks ago, doubting doubty thoughts. But those little affirmations are tricky suckers. I kept thinking, "IT'S MY TIME! I'M FIRED UP!" and knew that I must must must not let myself down.

Day one of Insanity is to take measurements, photos, and take the Fit Test. If you think the Fit Test is too hard, then Insanity is not for you. I measured. I took photos. And I took the Fit Test. And yes, it was a challenge. Here are the results of the test: Each exercise is performed for one minute with a two minute recovery between.

Switch Kicks: 120

Power Jacks: 56

Power Knees: 102

Power Jumps: 35

Globe Jumps: 10

Suicide Jumps: 18

Push-Up Jacks: 30

Low Plank Oblique: 55

I'll take the test again in 15 days to see how I have progressed! And here are my before photos. I was nervous to post them, but Patricia says to love the body you are in now. I am willing to believe it. And I am able to achieve it.

A Journey to the Center of Falling Off the Face of the Earth OR Don't Quit Your Day Job. . .Yet.

So. . .where have I been world?

I often don't let myself rest, and now that I have begun this bloggy endeavor and the tweeting and the fan page on Face Book, my time home hasn't felt like MY time. Don't get me wrong: I LOVE writing this blog, and I love connecting to people all over the world that have similar interests to mine that I can share what I have learned and I can learn from them. Starting Foster Fitness has by far been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.

The problem is that I still have my day job, or night job really if you think about my hours. During the day I work out and I write articles and I tweet with my pals and then I have to get ready for a 7 to 8 hour shift at my restaurant gig. I am thankful that I have a job that pays me so well in these tough economic times. I realized at the end of last week that I am burning the candle at both ends, and I was starting to wear myself down.

Wednesday night I felt so tired, so I made sure to get plenty of sleep that night. All day Thursday I was utterly exhausted, but still managed to meet my daily 30 day goals.

I hit the wall Friday. Hard. I hit my nose and my kneecaps. It hurt.

I had to change my goal that day to REST. I needed to unplug the lap top and walk, not run, to the nearest exit and spend some time recharging my own batteries.

I knew I needed to change something because I wanted a cheeseburger for breakfast. My body was craving major protein, and a Shakeology was not going to cut it. I didn't work out: Instead, I went to the movies. I watched television. I went to work, and then slept until 11 the next morning.

I began to feel the fog clear. I worked out for 30 minutes (who doesn't need a little Jillian Michaels kickboxing for some motivation) and rested some more and went to work and by Sunday I felt like my old self again.

Everyone at my job has been getting ill and I knew that if I continued at my crazy pace I would be benched from the game of Life. Realizing that you aren't a super hero is hard! That taking care of yourself is just as important as lady guns and funny commentary on The Biggest Loser. That your readers will forgive you for not blogging for a couple of days and they will still be there when you get back from Wonderland.

It feels good to be back. :)

DietTribe Season 2- episode 3- "The Cold Hard Truth"

After last episode's disappointing weight loss, I was wondering how the ladies of DietTribe were going to recover. Sometimes it is really tough to get back on the bandwagon after you've fallen off the turnip truck.

Tiffany, Stephanie, Rita, and Laneesa met at Mary's house to have a sit down and figure out why they were failing. Rita admitted she thought she WAS making healthy snacking choices, when in reality, she was still overindulging. Tiffany thought that the whole process was just going to be EASIER, and when it wasn't, she felt less eager to make a lifestyle change.

The women all agreed they were trying too hard to do this on their own, instead of working as a team. I know that I feel like I can accomplish so much more when I have the accountability and support of a team (like my 30 Day Shred Challenge group! We meet online and on Twitter!). The ladies pledge to one another that they will take this more seriously and they will do it together, as a team.

It is Day 30 of the 120 day regimen, and Jessie meets the ladies in the park for a workout and to give them a new diet plan. The original plan consisted of 1,500 calories per day, and the new plan drops the ladies down an extra 300 calories to 1,200 calories a day. They will also be eating every 2 to 3 hours to kick start their metabolism. I saw the panic in their eyes as they thought about where they were going to get rid of another 300 calories. Jessie explains the need for the calorie drop: because they are having a challenging time sticking to their meal plan, the women are now behind on their weight loss goals. Jessie states they will be on this reduced plan for only two weeks, until they get back on track.

Jessie also gives the women one of the most amazing tools that can help in weight loss and weight control: The CalorieKing Calorie, Fat, and Carbohydrate Counter. This pocket sized book lists the calories in almost anything you can imagine. It also has a huge section of restaurant selections. I own and use this book daily- I find it an invaluable tool for weight loss success and recommend it just for the eye opening- let's just say I might never eat at PF Chang's again.

Day 31: the ladies and Jessie go to the Tri-Zone, a store that specializes in all things triathlon. They get geared up with swim suits, water bottles, bicycles, and helmets to prepare them for their big day. Getting their new gear gets the ladies excited to compete- it is becoming a reality!

They then meet Kelly Clancy, owner and operator of TriDivas, a company that helps train women to compete in triathlons. Kelly has competed in over 100 triathlons. Holy Jeeze. I learned that there are many types of triathlons (did you know that?) and our competitors were going to be in a sprint type triathlon, which is swimming for 0.5 miles, biking for 12.5 miles, and running for 3 miles, which will take about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. The ladies will begin to train with Kelly and the TriDivas to prepare for their race.

Day 33: the women and Jessie meet the TriDivas for a "brick" workout: biking and running. The ladies will ride 2 laps on their bikes around the park and then run for 10 minutes.

The TriDivas start first, and the the DietTribers take off. They seem to do well on the first cycling lap, and then Laneesa begins to complain. Of course, it would have to be Laneesa. Apparently, she had surgery on her hip when she was younger (she's only 27) and it is giving her problems as she pedals.

Then the ladies hop off their bikes and have to run. This proves to be challenging as their legs feel like jelly. But the TriDivas step in and ENCOURAGE the women TOGETHER, proving that you can do anything when you are part of a group. Laneesa trails at the end, but Jessie steps in and runs with her to help her finish. In a touching moment, Tiffany begins to cry when she completes the race. She realizes that she may be able to do this after all.

Then it is time for the ladies to meet with therapist Stacy Kaiser. Today she has all the ladies put on white paper suits, and then she asks them all who reached their goal in the weigh in. Nobody raises their hands. She then asks the ladies to say the excuses they used to prevent their weight loss, and then write the excuses on the suits so they could see their poor choices. They say things like they don't care, it won't affect them, they are stressed, they are lonely, they need comfort, they didn't know popcorn was fattening (Oh, Rita.).

Laneesa's excuses (doing it on purpose, eating my emotions) were most disturbing to Stacy. We already know that Laneesa hasn't been giving her all, and not just because her hip is bothering her.

The ladies take their excuse suits off and Stacy makes them look at what their excuses have done to their bodies. She makes them look at themselves in the mirror, and recommit to own themselves and the choices that they have made to succeed.

Jessie comes in and takes the ladies to start their pool training, but Laneesa stays behind to have a little one on one time with Stacy. Laneesa has missed a lot of workouts, and when she does come she is often late. She is unhappy with herself, and says she wanted to be fat as a protective shield. Others don't expect as much from you when you are overweight. Laneesa wants to be present, however, and vows to Stacy that she will give 100% from now on.

Day 35: Jessie takes the ladies to the LA Expo for swim training, meeting Diana Nyad, a world record holder for swimming from the Bahamas to Florida. She is here to teach the ladies proper swim technique for their triathlon. And she manages to do something we thought would never happen: she gets Jessie to take off his shirt. You been holding out on us, Jessie!

Day 36: We follow the ladies at home on their new 1,200 calorie diet. Rita shares her knowledge with her kids. Tiffany and Stephanie cook at home together, learning the joy of simplicity. Mary weighs her food and celebrates running 5 minutes continuously on the treadmill. We see all the ladies feeling healthy and bright and being a positive support structure for each other.

Day 38: Stephanie meets one on one with Stacy for some much needed therapy. We have learned in previous episodes that Stephanie had recently gotten a divorce, and now we find out the reason why: her husband cheated on her. Her entire life has been derailed as a result, and she is struggling to find her identity. It is hard to watch her open up to Stacy about her feelings of hurt. She is so used to being "the happy one", and telling everyone that she is okay, that she has pushed her feelings down and tried to ignore them. Those feelings have manifested as Stephanie's weight gain.

Stacy assures her that taking care of herself is not being selfish-taking care of yourself so that you can in turn take care of others is selfless. She asks Stephanie to only speak the truth from now on. She doesn't just have to be "fine".

Day 39: The ladies go to a mixer at a boutique hotel, and Tiffany makes some uncomfortable match making gestures for Stephanie, trying to hook her up with some available bachelors. Although Stephanie is feeling more confident in her own skin, you can tell that she wants her persistent sis to stop being so persistent! Laneesa sends a text message saying that she can't join the ladies for the night out, seeming upset.

Tiffany goes to see her the next day, and Laneesa reveals that she and her boyfriend have broken up. That explains a lot. Laneesa has decided to draw comfort from her friends and family instead of food as she has done in the past. She is ready to sweat it out in the gym!

Day 41: The ladies video journals reveal that they are feeling stronger, healthier, and finally happier. Stephanie reveals that she feels like change is happening for the first time in a long time, and she is ready for it.

Day 42: It is time for the third weigh in. None of the ladies have missed a single workout, they are sticking to the diet plan, and they are feeling super confident.

The team goal for this weigh in is 30 pounds. Will they be able to reach this goal?

Rita steps up first. She started at 177 pounds, and loses 5 pounds, exceeding her goal. Stephanie loses 6 pounds- meeting her goal. Tiffany loses 5 pounds, and is disappointed because she thought she would lose more. But she has the backing of her team. Mary loses 7 pounds, and Laneesa, who only lost 1 pound last weigh in, loses an impressive 13 pounds!

The ladies have lost 36 pounds as a team, and win their weigh in reward- diamond and sapphire pendants. The 5 diamonds on the pendent represent the 5 ladies and the goals they are to reach together as a team.

Jessie sets their team weight loss goal for next weigh in at 30 pounds. With their renewed confidence in themselves, I think there is no way they won't reach all their goals from now on.

What I am "F'd Up!" about today! McDonald's Monopoly: Gain Big to Win?

I picked up lunch with the boyfriend today at McDonald's and he pointed out this picture of the winners of McDonald's Monopoly game. We couldn't help but notice that every person was overweight.

At what price to win? Obviously, their health wasn't a concern. Just like the film Super Size Me made a success out of it's filmmaker, Morgan Spurlock, it also put him in almost mortal danger when he gained a dangerous amount of weight and damaged his liver by eating at McDonald's everyday for thirty days.

I know that McDonald's is an easy and inexpensive choice for many, and it's hard to get preachy when I told you we just ate lunch there. I did, however, order a grilled chicken salad that was recommended on a Fitness Magazine tweet last week (the bacon ranch grilled chicken salad with 1/4 of the dressing packet- pretty tasty!).

My issue is this: in order to win, you have to order the most calorie laden foods on the menu in order to get the winning tickets. I noticed I did not receive a game piece with my salad. I would have had to order the over 700 calorie Angus burger to get one of those. The contest only lasts for thirty days, so you have to get in a LOT of eating to be a contender.

It would be nice if all the winning game pieces were on the apple slices and yogurt parfaits.

Here is a great article that talks not only about the way the game is played, but what you have to ingest to play it. Good luck. . .

DietTribe Season 2- episode 1- "Leap of Faith"

As you all know, I love reality television, and I really love reality television that has to do with weight loss and body image. I'm following The Biggest Loser, but I have discovered another show that is also worth your viewing time: DietTribe on the Lifetime network.

DietTribe is in it's second season, and I don't know how I missed the first season because this show is GREAT! Luckily, there are full episodes to watch on http://www.mylifetime.com/ in the DietTribe section. Season 2 is on the Lifetime Channel Friday nights at 9 pm eastern time.

The premise of the show is familiar: group of overweight women that want to lose weight meet with big name trainer and therapist to reach their weight loss goals. Sound like The Biggest Loser? Not quite. There is no shiny ranch or private gym or Jillian Michaels. DietTribe's premise puts the participants in their everyday lives and situations. They still live at home, they raise their families, work their jobs, and have to find a way to fit in workouts and eat healthy. I like the fact that these women are learning the tools of success as they intertwine with their normal lives. I know that the contestants on The Biggest Loser are afraid to go home and leave the comfort of the ranch because they don't know how to integrate the things they have learned into their real lives. DietTribe shows it is possible to be a "normal" person and be a fit person: the reason why I am here and writing this blog!

Another difference- the women on the show aren't contestants. They are participants. There is no game play, no tearful elimination ceremonies. The women can't be eliminated and must be a part of the entire show. With the pressure of game play out of the way I feel like these women must be motivated by something within themselves. There is no money at stake, just the promise that at the end of their time on the show, they will have reached their goal weight. How different and refreshing! No offense, Biggest Loser fans. You know I am still totally down.

Although I am starting to watch season one online and will write recaps for that season, I am starting with season two because I was watching that one first and I'm already so invested!

Episode one is entitled "Leap of Faith", what people must take when they are embarking on any major change in life. We open on a small town softball game, and meet the five women that this show is revolving around, named the Misfits. They are not athletes, and after some crappy yet entertaining ball playing, we meet the ladies of season two gathered at their favorite pub, chowing down on some major fried fatty business.

Eat now ladies, 'cause tomorrow it's all gonna change.

The ladies of season two meet their hunky trainer, Jessie Pavelka for their first weigh in. Jessie has been a personal trainer and fitness model for over seven years, and he is a hot guy. I mean, really hot. He informs the ladies that he will be with them for the next 120 days, and each one of them is going to lose 50 pounds over those days. That is about 3-4 pounds a week.

Mary is the first lady to weigh in. She is 37 years old, 5'7", and her starting weight is 210 pounds. Her goal weight is 160. Then 34 year old Rita steps up- her starting weight is 177 pounds. Because she is only 5'2", she is going to lose 35 pounds. Her goal weight is 142. Stephanie is next. She is the oldest at 39, and weighs 244 pounds at 5'7". Her goal weight is 194. Stephanie's sister Tiffany is next. She weighs in at 221 pounds, is 5'7", and her goal weight is 171. Then lastly, Laneesa weighs in at 335 pounds. She is the biggest participant and the tallest at 5'11". Her goal is 285 pounds.

The ladies will weigh in every two weeks. Jessie sets their first goal at 35 pounds for a team goal- around 6 pounds apiece. If they reach their goal they will win a prize.

But then Jessie drops the bomb- at the end of the 120 days, they will all be competing in a triathlon. WHAT? They are pretty out of shape, but Jessie promises they will be shocked by what they can accomplish.

So will this group of friends be able to pull it off? It is time to begin.

Jessie is taking the ladies to work out 5 days a week for 1 1/2 hours every time- one hour of cardio and 30 minutes of weight training. He will be there every time, every day to give them 110%. Their first fitness test was telling- they could only run on the treadmill for a couple minutes. They all complained of aches and pains. And then he had them on interval training (One of my favorite ways to workout) on the spin bikes, and they could barely do that. Jessie introduced all the ladies to the gym machines and showed them ways to build muscle so they could keep burning calories.

Mary breaks down during the first workout, disappointed that she has let herself go for so long. Realizing that you have a mountain to climb can make you feel overwhelmed for sure! But after a good cry, she is ready to shake it off and keep working.

We first meet Mary. She is a working Mom with three children from two different marriages who gained more and more weight as each child was born. She is ready to reclaim the skinny girl she once was.

Then we meet sisters Tiffany and Stephanie who do everything together. Literally. They live together. They went to nursing school together. They had a double wedding. They had children at the same time. They both had gastric bypass surgery, and Stephanie has gained back 40 pounds due to her recent divorce. Tiffany is also feeling the strain- at a family garage sale, she cries when two people at the same time put on her plus-size wedding dress that was for sale. Tiffany blames not being able to concentrate on herself as the reason she has gained weight from her gastric bypass.

Jessie makes an impromptu stop at the garage sale, and rummages through Tiffany and Stephanie's fridge and cabinets. He throws out pretty much everything. They even had funnel cake mix. WHO HAS FUNNEL CAKE MIX? Side note: he didn't buy anything from the sale.

Jessie introduces all the ladies to their 1500 calorie diet plan. It is meticulously laid out for their 120 days. They will be eating 5 times a day a specified amount of carbs, proteins, and fats. Jessie assures them that if they stay with this program, they should have no problem losing weight. But the first issue the ladies have is that they don't cook- and that is why they have so many convenience foods in their pantries. Jessie tells them it is easy, and buys them a ton of healthy groceries to show them correct portion sizes and the proper size plates to eat off of.

Then it is time to meet Lanessa, who blames her weight on her family and never being healthy. She has a new boyfriend, and she is scared to see who she is without the weight.

Don't ask me why we can't meet all the ladies at once- it's sprinkled throughout the program.

It's a new day, and Jesssie takes the ladies for a hike and to meet therapist Stacy Kaiser. For reality show fans, she is the therapist on Celebrity FitClub on VH1. She wants to help them with the mental and emotional baggage that comes with being overweight. She shares that she has lost 60 pounds herself (just like me) and is excited to help these ladies overcome their fears. Starting with jumping off a thirty foot platform. Each lady jumps off the platform, even if they are scared to death of heights. It is their literal leap of faith into the program.

Then we finally get to meet Rita. She is a busy mother of two who complains of being nonathletic and wishes she could do more with her in shape husband.

They show the ladies on their workouts, and with their personal video cams talking about their challenges staying on the plan and how hard the workouts have been.

Has the hard work paid off?

At the final weigh in, there is much to be excited about. The ladies are eager to see if all this lifestyle changing is actually going to pay off. And will they meet their team goal of 35 pounds?

Stephanie goes first, and weighs 234 pounds, for a total weight loss of 10 pounds in two weeks. It makes everyone excited, and her sister Tiffany is confident that she also put up some serious numbers. She also loses 10 pounds, weighing in at 211. Rita weighs in next, and she had to go to the hospital for kidney stones during the week. She is swollen from the saline, and worried about her number. She still loses 3 pounds, weighing in at 174. Jessie says sometimes life gets in the way and you have to keep going. Laneesa steps up next- will she let the team down? She weighs 325, also losing 10 pounds. Last is Mary- who wants to lose at least 8 pounds. She weighs in at 197- a total loss of 13 pounds!!!

The ladies have exceeded their goal, losing 46 pounds, and their reward is some pampering at the spa- my favorite way to unwind! The ladies all say they deserve this because they worked so hard, but will they be able to keep it up? Jessie says the first weigh in is always the easiest- will they be able to reach the team goal of 30 pounds for the next weigh in?

I'll be tuning in!
