Bathing (and writing) Beauties!

He was an old man who fished alone in a skiff in the Gulf Stream and he had gone eighty-four days now without taking a fish.

Ever wanted to see Ernest Hemingway in his Old Man and the Sea get up?  Want to know why Sylvia Plath was depressed?  It probably wasn't because she looked great in a bikini.  Click on the link below to see some literary greats in their bathing dresses, courtesy of Flavorwire.com.

That's a lotta Bull!

I'll be on you like a spider monkey.

An energy drink that's the equivalent of 11 croissants? C'est non! I've always thought that "energy drinks" are naughty, but here is the proof.

My thoughts on Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition

Chris Powell on the first episode of EMWLE

I have been trying to figure out how I want to blog about EMWLE.  It's tricky:  It's only an hour long, it's real interview heavy, and it only covers one person per episode.

One year for a weight loss transformation is amazing, and much longer than The Biggest Loser.  And you well know that I think slow and steady wins the race in the weight loss world.  I love the personal trainer Chris Powell.  He is warm and supportive and has a lot of charisma.  I just wish there was more of him and the subject in each episode.  I wish they showed the food the people ate.  I wish they showed more of the workouts.  I just wish there was MORE.

It is a great concept, but I think if they do another season it needs to be a little more dense with HOW the transformation is taking place.  People know how a house is built.  People don't know as much about how to change their lives and live more healthy.

Please ABC!  If you bring back the show, maybe make it a hair longer?  It doesn't have to be like The Biggest Loser (20 episodes), but I would like a little more info on the actual transformation and not so much on the big reveal.

That is all.

What I am "F'd Up!" about today! SNAKE VENOM TREATMENT!!!

Put it on your skin!

Let's face it:  We all want to grow old gracefully, but when you look in the mirror and see the haggard lines and wrinkles of a life lived well, maybe we want to be a little less graceful. Venomous, maybe. Good thing Spa Lab in NYC has a little charmer of an anti aging treatment. Snake Venom. Oh, yes.
Just like the venom found in the bite of a cobra, Snake Venom has been brought to NYC by Spa Lab not to hurt us but to hurt those pesky fine lines and wrinkles.

I met with Larry Costa, owner and founder of Spa Lab, who explained to me that Snake Venom can be just as effective as Botox. Costa has been using the venom himself for two years to replace Botox, which didn't always give him the consistent relaxed results he sought. Occasionally a slip of the needle would result in sinister brows and droopy eyelids.

Costa first heard of Snake Venom being used in the UK, and when it became legal for use in the states, Spa Lab became the only spa in the city to use it. You can only get it here, folks!

I received the Snake Venom eye treatment. I laid on a comfortable table in a darkened room listening to the soothing sounds of the ocean while Costa administered the procedure. First, a hemp cleanser was used to wash away my eye makeup and then a gentle exfoliant was applied to prep my skin for the venomous solution. The 35% Snake Venom solution was applied to my skin, and then the best part:  A cool cucumber mask and 10-15 minute nap to let it all soak in.  Heavenly.

When Costa returned I felt refreshed and relaxed, and my eyes? Bright and smooth! I don't have a lot of deep set wrinkles yet, but my finer lines seemed smoother. My skin also felt more taut and my eyelids less crepey.

Even when I woke up the next morning my eyes still looked great. No puffiness!

Spa Lab also sells take home Snake Venom treatments for face and body (think an end to saggy knees and elbows) to continue the treatments effects. All Spa Labs products are made in house and are of the highest quality. Not to mention their staff, who are so personable and knowledgeable.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I've been bitten by Spa Lab! I love this little gem hidden away from the bustle of Herald Square. Don't be afraid to get bit too!  (PS- Spa Sally will be offering this deal for $25 TOMORROW at www.25tuesdays.com!!!)
